Coronavirus can be especially dangerous for patients with neurological disorders
The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced the Rowe Neurology Institute to close its Clinical Trials Site. This was done in an abundance of caution for patient safety, staff safety, and in an attempt to preserve the integrity of the studies the RNI was carrying out. Active patients in trials have been transferred to other sites which have the facilities to remain active during this pandemic.
The Rowe Neurology Institute has been involved in approximately 175 clinical trials over the years, to offer its patients hope for new and improved therapies for Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia, Sleep Disorders, and Headache. Unfortunately, the pandemic has forced us to close emergently.
The extensive video and informational libraries the RNI has developed over the years remain open. These include www.neurokc.com and www.doctorrowe.com remain available and are still being developed. In addition, www.whirlybird.com, the small press emphasizing the importance of the literary arts to the practice of medicine, remains open.
As physician scientists at the national level, like Dr. Fauci, and Dr. Birx, help determine policy at a national, state, and local levels, we sincerely hope that the severe physician shortage in private practice will also be addressed. This will be critical for rural and underserved areas of our country.
